Mocal Oilstat – external oil thermostat for optimal operating temperature in motorsport
The Mocal Oilstat is an external oil thermostat that precisely controls the oil circuit and ensures that the engine oil quickly reaches its optimal operating temperature. At the same time, it reliably protects the engine from overheating when high thermal loads occur under racing conditions. The Oilstat is installed in the oil line leading to the external oil cooler and opens at a defined temperature of 80°C.
Function
Below 80°C, the oil cooler remains bypassed, allowing the oil to warm up faster and reducing cold‑start wear. Once the oil reaches 80°C, the thermostat opens and directs the oil through the cooler to maintain stable temperatures even under continuous high load. This prevents both overcooling and overheating – two critical factors for engine durability and performance.
Motorsport advantages
Faster warm‑up to optimal oil temperature
Stable oil temperatures under racing conditions
Protection against overheating in turbocharged or high‑performance engines
